NEW ORLEANS, La. (Jan. 28, 2026) – The North Central College men's track and field team has landed a spot in the top-20 of the NCAA Division III Men's Indoor National Rating Index released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Tuesday, Jan. 27. The Cardinals came in at No. 18 in Checkpoint #1 with a score of 37.11 points.
The USTFCCCA TFRI is a mathematical system used to rank collegiate track and field teams based solely on their current-season performances. The Cardinals' ranking is backed by 11 top-30 marks nationally, highlighted by
BJ Sorg's No. 4 mark in the 5,000m (14:15.43) and
Randy Reed's No. 7 mark in the 200-meter dash (21.57). Additionally,
Oscar Frontjes and
Jacob Kluckhohn rank 16th (14:48.21) and 19th (14:53.23) in the 5k, respectively.
Also ranking in the top-30 is
Jayden Leise in the triple jump (21st, 14.34m),
Aidan Armstrong in the 5k (25th, 14:57.91) and the mile (30th, 4:14.45), Reed in the 60m (26th, 6.88),
Cole Oleson in the high jump (29th, 1.99m), and
Ben Balboa (shot put, 15.95m). The distance-medley relay also sits eighth this season (10:40.53).
North Central is back in action on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30-31, at the Meyo Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame and the Squig Converse Invitational and Multi hosted by the University of Whitewater.
