DAVENPORT, Iowa (Sept. 8, 2011) - The North Central College women's golf team turned in a second runner-up finish in three days on Thursday, narrowly missing out on a victory in the Augustana College Lady Viking Invitational, held at Emeis Golf Course.

The Cardinals, who won the event last year with a course-record score of 314, this time posted a total of 338 to come up three strokes of matching this year's champions, Wheaton College, at the top of a 15-team field.

Wheaton's efforts were bolstered by the top two individual finishers in the field, as the Thunder's Sarah Moore and Debby Bouzeous led the way with scores of 76 and 79, respectively.

North Central had three of its players among the top six finishers, as Mallory Carr and Marisa Miko each shot 83 to tie for third place and Mary Kate Rohn shot 84 to place sixth. Alayna Dufour was the Cardinals' fourth scorer, placing 18th with a score of 88.

North Central will also be in action Friday and Saturday, traveling to Marshall, Mich., to participate in the Olivet College Fall Invitaitonal at The Medalist Golf Course. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday.
