WHEATON, Ill. (May 1, 2021) - Putting forth a dominant show of force in the sprinting and jumping events, the North Central College men's track and field team won eight events in its final dress rehearsal for next week's College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Outdoor Championship on Friday. The Cardinals posted a second-place finish in the eight-team Wheaton College Don Church Twilight Meet at McCully Stadium.

Entering the meet ranked 24th nationally, North Central accumulated 169.50 points to finish just behind Wheaton's total of 177.50. The 19th-ranked University of Chicago placed third with 157.

Four of the Cardinals' first-place finishes came in the sprint events. The 4-by-100-meter relay team of Kendall Johnson, Michael Stanley, Maceo Findlay and Jamauri Spivery surged to victory with a time of 41.82 seconds, North Central's fastest time in the event this season and falling just outside of the program's all-time top 10. Spivery later won the 100-meter dash in a personal-best time of 10.75 seconds, the third-fastest in school history and the Cardinals' second-fastest wind-legal time ever behind Athletic Hall of Famer David Thompson's '99 time of 10.72, recorded in 1997. Thompson holds North Central's all-conditions record time of 10.56, achieved in 1998.

Findlay narrowly missed a personal record in placing second to Spivery in the 100 (10.99), then also nearly toppled his personal best with a first-place time of 22.21 in the 200-meter dash. Stanley clocked a lifetime-best mark of 48.41 seconds to win the 400-meter dash, also narrowly missing a spot in the program's outdoor top 10.

Nick Janca achieved an outdoor personal best of 6'8.75" to win the high jump on Friday, while Jacob Miller's mark of 21'3.50" in the long jump equaled his outdoor best and tied him for first in the event. Johnson won the triple jump with a mark of 44'11.50".

Gabe Pommier won the 1,500-meter run by nearly eight seconds with a time of 3:49.86. Placing second, each with personal-best efforts, were Gavin Carr in the pole vault (15'0.25") and Tim Bertulis in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:34.09).

Third-place points came from Riley Hughes in the discus throw (141'9"), Taylor Sadkowski in the hammer throw (165'2") and John Heneghan in the 3,000-meter run (8:52.96).
