Mar. 16, 2022 - The North Central College women's bowling team continues to break new ground in its competitive success within the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW), winning two of the conference's three major individual awards in the release of the annual All-CCIW Teams, which were made public Wednesday.

The Cardinals' Jessica Ramirez was voted the CCIW's First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year by the conference's head coaches, while North Central head coach Jacob Sandborn has been named the CCIW Coach of the Year. 

Ramirez is on pace to establish a new North Central record for single-game scoring average (181.0) in traditional play and set a new single-game program record with a score of 263 at the Upper Iowa University Peacock Classic in January. Ramirez was named the CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week for women's bowling twice.

In his second season as the Cardinals' head coach, Sandborn directed the team to 23 dual-competition victories, a new single-season record for a program preparing to complete its fifth season of varsity play.

The CCIW also announced the nine winners of its RESPECT Award for the season. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture. North Central's RESPECT Award honoree is junior Talia Roti.

The Cardinals travel to Smyrna, Tennessee this weekend for the Music City Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt University.
