Feb. 16, 2024 – The North Central College men's track and field team hosted the annual F. Lee Slick invitational at the Al B. Carius Track, finishing second behind Lewis University.
North Central finished with 119 points, falling behind Lewis University at 157.5 points but outpaced the College of DuPage by 56 points.
The Cardinals won five events outright with
Colton Oleson winning the high jump marking 1.93 meters (6 feet, 4 inches). A team effort between
Jacob Everix,
Tyler Piron, Nicholas Hawn, and
Aidan Armstrong overcame Illinois Tech in the distance medley relay with a final time of 10:31.05. The mile run saw the Cardinals sweep the top five times between
Braden Nicholson (4:16.28),
Connor Riss (4:20.43),
BJ Sorg (4:20.80),
Max Svienty (4:22.25), and
Logan Tanttu (4:22.53).
Jacob Everix snagged a first-place finish (1:57.66) in the 800-meter run with
Aidan Armstrong following in fourth (1:58.44). In the 3000-meter run,
Jonathan Olenek sealed a first-place finish in 8:43.87 while
Ishaan Patel finished just behind clocking in at 8:44.49.
North Central also snatched second and third in the shot put between
Daniel Dominguez in second (14.40m, 47' 3") and
Anthony Zajac in third (14.06m, 46' 1.50").
Anthony Divenere tied for third in the pole vault with a measurement of 4.40m (14' 5.25") with
Jayden Leise also taking third in the triple jump with a mark of 14.21m (46' 7.50"). In the weight throw,
Martin Egbo notched a fourth-place mark of 16.18m (53' 1").
Marcus Caselberry represented the Cardinals in second for the 60-meter hurdle (8.76 seconds) while
Matt Lewis took fourth in the 60-meter dash (6.99).
The Cardinals host the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) indoor championships at the Al B. Carius Track on Friday.
