PEORIA, Ill. (Mar. 25, 2024) - The North Central College men's golf team opened the 2024 spring season at Weaver Ridge Golf Course Saturday and Sunday, taking fifth place in the 17-team Cougar Spring Preview, hosted by Illinois Central College.

The Cardinals were tied for third in the field after Saturday's first round with a score of 306. Amid windy conditions on Sunday, North Central posted a second-round total of 329 to finish with a 36-hole score fo 635. Augustana College won the team competition with a score of 600, followed by Illinois Central (611) and Millikin University (614). 

Augustana also claimed the top spot in the individual standings, as Alexandre Thery shot an even-par score of 144 to post a three-stroke margin of victory over Millikin's Dominick Emig. Mitchell Mazzei was the Cardinals' top finisher, carding back-to-back rounds of 75 to place fifth with a total of 150.

Brendan Joy shot 157 to place 18th out of 98 finishers, while Braden Estes finished 43rd (164), Cole Martin placed 45th (164), Nicholas Zaimins came in 58th (168) and Mitch Boryszewski placed 76th (172).
