VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Mar. 9, 2024) – The North Central College men's track and field team sent competitors to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) indoor championship this weekend.
The Cardinals had two competitors qualify for national competition including graduate student
Braden Nicholson and freshman
Jayden Leise. On the first day of competition, Friday afternoon, Nicholson competed in the 5000-meter run obtaining a ninth-place finish of 14:09.53 a personal best record and fifth best in the program's all-time top ten. This earned Nicholson a Second-Team All-American selection to the U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) field. Leise on the second day of competition, Saturday morning, represented the Cardinals in the triple jump obtaining an eighteenth-place mark of 13.20 meters (43 feet, 3.75 inches).
North Central ends the season as CCIW champions and now turn their attention towards the upcoming outdoor track and field season beginning March 28, where they host the First Chance Invitational at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
