Fighting Chance Invite
May 14, 2024 - The North Central College men's track and field team hosted the Cardinal Combined for the final home meet of the 2024 season. The Cardinals had three athletes competing in the decathlon:
Marc Alday,
Zach Anderson, and
Jacob Ahlberg.
In the 100-meter dash, Anderson earned a third-place finish after clocking 11.35 seconds. Alday and Ahlberg finished in sixth (11.60) and seventh (12.06) in the long jump, respectively. Alday also competed in the shot put (7.22m, 23'8.25").
Additionally, last weekend (May 10 and 11), North Central sent a small group of athletes to the Fighting Chance Invite hosted by the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Ill.
Connor Riss turned in the top finish in the 5,000-meter Invitational (14:11.07). In the 5,000-meter Open Section 1,
Kal Hoppe clocked a 14-minute, 43.34-second finish and earned fourth place. Hoppe also took third place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:15.66).
North Central will compete in one more competition before the NCAA Championships. The Cardinals will compete on Thursday, May 16, at the Augustana Final Qualifier hosted by Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill.
