MANHEIM, Pa. (Nov. 13, 2025) – Following a full weekend of competition in Adrian, Mich., the North Central College women's wrestling team saw some jostling in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association's (NWCA) national rankings as the team dipped to fourth in team standings while finding individual representation in all 10 weight classes.
The University of Iowa still holds the top spot in the rankings with 118 points, trailed by McKendree University with 111 points and Grand Valley State University with 86 points. The Cardinals totaled 78 points in the latest installment of national rankings to sit fourth.
Madison Avila sits eighth in the 103-weight class after posting a 6-4 record through two weeks of competition. Avila finished second at the Pointer Open and third at the Adrian invite while recording three ranked wins since the preseason rankings were released.
Kaelani Shufeldt ranks fourth at 110 pounds. Shufeldt has recorded a 7-2 record so far this season and picked up one ranked win. Shufeldt finished first at the season opener, the Pointer Open, and recently placed third at the Adrian Invite.
A strong start to the season for
Mikayla Garcia saw the sophomore break into the rankings, sitting eighth at 117 pounds. Garcia posted a pair of third-place finishes at the Pointer Open and Adrian Invite with a 9-3 record to start the season. She recorded one ranked win so far, a 10-0 technical fall against the former eighth-ranked Jasmine Luedtke of Wartburg.
With a 6-0 start to the year,
Sara Sterner climbs to third at 124 pounds in the latest rankings release. Sterner recorded four ranked wins this past weekend at the Adrian Duals and Adrian Invite, including an 8-5 decision win over then-third-ranked Aspen Blasko of Grand Valley State.
Yele Aycock sits sixth at 131 pounds after a 5-4 weekend in Michigan.
Grace Stem enters the rankings for the first time this season, as she lands the fifth spot at 138 pounds after starting the season 4-2.
Bella Mir retains the top spot at 145 pounds. Mir competed in two duals at the Adrian Duals this past weekend, taking down Alexis Gomez (McKendree) and Gennaveve Matt (Tiffin), both by way of 10-0 technical falls. Mir started her season at the NWCA All-Star Classic, where she defeated Latifah McBryde of Division II Life University in a 2-2 decision win on criteria.
After moving up weight classes this season,
Taylor Graveman has shifted from fourth-ranked at 138 pounds in the preseason rankings to No. 4 in the 160-pound weight class. She is 7-2 on the year with two ranked wins against the then-No. 5-ranked and then-No. 6-ranked wrestlers at 160 pounds. Graveman placed second in the season opener, the Pointer Open, before taking first-place in the 160-pound bracket with a 5-0 day at the Adrian Invite.
Shenita Lawson ranks fourth at 180 pounds following a 4-1 weekend in Michigan, where she wrestled in one dual match on Saturday before winning the 180-pound bracket with a 4-0 effort that featured two wins by decision and two technical falls.
A great start to the season for
Caroline Ward saw her move into sixth in the 207-weight class after producing an 8-2 record so far with three ranked wins. Ward won the 207-gold bracket at the Pointer Open on Nov. 1 before turning in a third-place finish with a 5-1 record at the Adrian Invite this past weekend.
North Central will open College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin dual action on Monday, Nov. 17, as the Cardinals travel to Bloomington, Ill. to take on the Illinois Wesleyan University Titans.
