Sept. 29, 2025 (Madison, Wis.) – Madison Place and the North Central College women's golf team competed in the TPC Invite hosted at TPC Wisconsin by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater over the last two days. The Cardinals placed 14th in the event and were led by Place, who finished in 38th individually.
The event featured top teams from the country, including College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin foe No. 12 Illinois Wesleyan University (third place) and No. 4 Pomona-Pitzer (first place) out of California.
Place shot an 82 in Monday's round, improving her Sunday score by seven strokes. She finished the weekend 27 strokes over par (171). She parred 19 of her 36 holes in the event en route to her third-best individual finish this season.
Place's Monday round for her third-best round of the 2025 campaign. After finishing the first round of the tournament in 61st, she shot up the leaderboard to 38th on day two thanks to her seven-stroke improvement.
The Cardinals' final tally of 694 was just five strokes behind 13th-place University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
The tournament championship was claimed by Pomona-Pitzer (585). The Sagehens finished just nine strokes over par, 50 strokes better than second-place University of Wisconsin-Stout.
Pomona-Pitzer also claimed all three podium positions in addition to fourth place. Ann Zhao took home the individual title for the Sagehens, with Annabelle Chan, Lisa Chu, and Eunice Yi following Zhao for the Pomona-Pitzer. Zhao won the tournament with a score of one under par, and Chan claimed second with an even par performance.
Anna Meinhart birdied two holes on Monday: the par five second and the par three fifth. She finished the day with an 85 and the tournament with a 174. She finished in 54th in the field of 93.
Mallorie Clifton carded an 86 on Sunday and finished the weekend with a score of 176. Clifton parred 18 holes on the weekend and finished in 59th.
Caterina Calabria finished just a stroke back of her teammate, logging a 177 for the weekend and in 65th place.
Aleksa Gizewicz matched her best single round of the season on Monday, carding an 86, her best round since the first round of the Ives Grove Firebird Women's Fall Classic. The senior finished in 69th place with a final score of 178.
The Cardinals are back on the course a week from today at Metamora Fields Golf Club for the 2025 CCIW Championship. The three-day tournament begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6.
