NEW ORLEANS (Feb. 3, 2026) – The North Central College men's track and field team climbed five spots to No. 13 in the NCAA Division III Men's Indoor National Rating Index, released Tuesday by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Cardinals currently total 43.63 points.
The USTFCCCA TFRI is a mathematical system that ranks collegiate track and field teams based solely on current-season performances. The University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh leads Division III with 263.39 points, followed by Rowan (243.35) in second and UW–La Crosse (151.12) in third. Wartburg College (123.66) and Central College (91.96) round out the top five in the Week 2 rankings.
Strong weekend performances by
Cole Oleson and
BJ Sorg helped propel the Cardinals up the rankings. Oleson's 2.06-meter (6'9") clearance in the high jump ranks fourth nationally, while Sorg's time of 8:24.73 in the 3,000 meters ranks 25th.
Sorg also ranks fourth nationally in the 5,000 meters (14:15.43). Teammates
Oscar Frontjes (19th, 14:48.21),
Jacob Kluckhohn (25th, 14:53.23), and
Aidan Armstrong (31st, 14:57.91) also place among the nation's top competitors in the event.
Randy Reed ranks in the top 35 in two events, sitting eighth in the 200 meters (21.57) and 32nd in the 60 meters (6.88).
Additional contributions include
Jayden Leise, who ranks 22nd in the triple jump (14.34m, 47'0.50"), and
Ben Balboa, who sits 33rd in the shot put (15.95m, 52'4").
The Cardinals return to action this weekend in Bloomington, Illinois, competing at the Keck DIII Select and Multi on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6-7.
